Have a badly burned pan? Try this: scrape away all the burned on food that you can, then fill the pan with cold water. Add a cup of salt, stir until the salt is completely dissolved, and let the pan sit overnight. In the morning, bring the water slowly to a boil and allow it to boil gently for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the water cool. Pour out the water and then proceed to clean the pan in the normal way. The charred food should come out easily at that point.
