Smartest Ice Machine on the Planet: Scotsman Prodigy Commercial Ice Macines
The Prodigy ice machines from Scotsman are the smartest ice machines on the planet, and here's why:
- Cost Saving Efficiency: Prodigy cubers use significantly less energy and water than traditional ice machines, making them among the first cubers to exceed both the 2008 California Energy Commission and 2010 Federal energy efficiency regulations by up to 22%. That's up to 28% more than their nearest competitor.
- Self-Monitoring Technology: The Prodigy cuber's AutoAlert external indicator lights continually communicate the machine's current status, for complete confidence in its ice-making capability. The ability to immediately alert staff of key operational issues is a valuable tool to maintaining high levels of ice production and minimizing performance interruptions.
- Extend Time Between Cleanings: The patented WaterSense adaptive purge control reduces scale buildup by detecting and purging mineral-laden water with every freeze cycle, for a longer time between cleanings and maximum reliability.
- Quiet & Aesthetic: With a unique fan blade design, quieter compressors, and a special sound shield, Prodigy cubers reduce the noise of ice making versus competing models. All external panel components are crafted for superior fit and finish and aesthetic appeal.
- Built-in Antimocrobial Protection: All Prodigy cubers are protected with Scotsman AquaArmor, which utilizes AgION, a silver-based antimicrobial compound molded directly into key ice machine components. Match this with Scotsman's other sanitation products to further defend you ice machine against undesirable microbes, bacteria, mold, and algae.

We have owned a Prodigy ice machine for 2 years and have had at least a dozen service calls. Scotsman has repeatedly blown us off with a myriad of excuses as to why the machine does not work. It even had a recall because it had a defect which caused it to catch on fire. It might be the smartest ice machine on the planet but for us it has been the poorest operating ice machine on the planet.

Hello Cindy,
Let me start by thanking you for your comment. I hate to hear of the troubles with your Scotsman ice machine. I have to be honest and say this is a first, I’ve yet to have a customer experience the caliber problem you speak of with a Prodigy ice machine. I’m familiar with the recall and must admit Scotsman did a fine job of correcting the issue on the affected ice machines for our customers. I’ve passed this on to my supervisor and she is going to forward your complaint on to a contact at Scotsman. Thanks again for reading and commenting.
