T&S BRASS LEADING THE WAY LEAD FREE

For years T&S Brass has been a leading manufacturer in spray valves, commercial faucets and plumbing equipment. T&S Brass has always tried to stay on top of all new regulations by providing quality, innovative products.

The California Assembly Bill 1953 was signed into a law in September of 2006. This law requires a reduced amount of lead content in products to a weighted average of no more than .25% in pipes and other plumbing fixtures.

The Law specifically states as follows:

No person shall introduce into commerce, for use in California, any pipe, pipe or plumbing fitting, or fixture intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption through drinking water or cooking that is not lead free.* This includes kitchen faucets, bathroom faucets, and any other end-use devices intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption through drinking or cooking.
*PLEASE NOTE: Use of the term 'lead free' varies between the new legislation in CA and VT, and in the current Federal Safe Drinking Water Act requirements. In the new legislation for CA and VT only, starting in 2010, it will mean 0.25% or less (weighted average).

DRAINING YOUR STEAM TABLE FOOD WARMER

If you are a food service operator and own a steam table food warmer, then chances are you will find yourself having to remove water from the food warmer. The best way to remove water from a steam table is to first turn off the steam table and allow the water to cool completely. Next place a cart with rollers next to the cooled steam table. You should then place a bucket on top of the cart. Begin scooping out the water with a large scoop (preferably one that is flat-sided). Next you should fill the scoop with water and dump the water into the bucket. You should continue to scoop the water into the bucket until the bucket is filled. After that, roll the cart to your sink and empty the bucket. You should return to the steam table and start the process over again until the steam table is empty. It's ideal to use a towel to absorb any remaining water inside of the steam table.
