BPA FREE PRODUCTS FROM G.E.T. ENTERPRISES
EC-03-JA G.E.T. Enterprises Food Container
Chances are if you are buying any types of food storage container that is made of some sort of polycarbonate plastic material or epoxy resin, then you would want to make sure it is BPA-free before you purchase it.
What is BPA?
Bisphenol A, commonly known as BPA, is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain types of plastics and resins since the early 60s. Most commonly they are found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Research has shown that BPA can leak into food or beverages from certain types of food containers. Although BPA remains a controversy among researchers based on the perilous effects it may have on others, some researchers say that BPA has a negative effect on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children. The Food and Drug Administration now shares the same level of concern and is encouraging everyone to less exposure of BPA products by finding alternatives to such products.
Epoxy resins can be used to coat the inside of metal products, like food cans, baby formula, bottle tops and water supply lines.
Polycarbonate plastics are used in many food and beverage storage containers. Not all polycarbonate products actually have BPA chemicals inside of them. G.E.T. Enterprises has several eco-friendly products like the EC-03-JA and the EC-03-CL 20 oz. Food containers, that are made of polyproylene and are BPA free. All of G.E.T. Enterprise products are BPA free.

LOW FLOW BUT GOOD TO GO | LOW FLOW PRE-RINSE SPRAY VALVE

B-0108-C Low Flow Pre-Rinse Spray Valve from T&S Brass
Some of you may not realize it, but in a typical restaurant the dishwasher consumes over two-thirds of all the water usage. Nearly one-half of the water used in dish washing is consumed by the pre-rinse spray valve.
What is a pre-rinse spray valve?
It's a hand held device that uses a spray of water to remove food and waste from dishes before cleaning them in a commercial dishwasher. They consist of a nozzle, a squeeze lever that controls the water flow, and a dishwasher bumper guard.
Using a low-flow pre-rinse spray valve helps minimizes the water consumption, water heating energy, and sewer charges. These pre-rinse spray valves save water while maintaining an equal cleaning performance over other spray valves. They help save energy by reducing the amount of water that needs to be heated. These valves are based on flow rate and cleaning performance. A low-flow spray valve with equal cleaning performance indicates a more-efficient spray valve model. The national standard for all pre-rinse spray valves made after 2006 have a flow rater of 1.6 gpm (gallons per minute) or less. Most spray valves that have a flow rate of 1.6 gpm or less at 60 psi are ideal.
The improved spray valve designs now allow for effective cleaning as much as the standard models. The California Urban Water Conservation Council has one of the largest pre-rinse spray valve programs in the country (Rinse & Save), which has a cleanability requirement of 21 seconds or less.
If you are in the market for buying a low-flow spray valve, refer to this chart to how replacing your unit can yield the following results.
T&S Brass, a leading manufacturer in plumbing and foodservice plumbing equipment, has created a new low-flow spray valve system that conserves water and operates at .65 gpm. The B-0108-C and the B-0107-C spray valves, if compared to the federal limit of 1.6 gpm, this valve can save nearly 100,000 gallons per year. These spray valves are still as effective with their cleanability performance as the previous T&S Brass models.
We are a proud distributor for T&S Brass products here at J.E.S. Restaurant Equipment.
Going Green | Good for the planet & business!

There is a considerable amount of buzz these days about "Going Green", but what exactly does that mean? Well "Going Green" is a very broad activity, but in a nutshell is has to do with anything that is environmentally friendly, from using biodegradable cleaning products, recycling, turning off lights when not in use and the list goes on and on. You may believe that "Going Green" is expensive and just a bunch of hype but believe it or not it can help you keep some of those valuable profit dollars in your pocket.
Here are a few tips to help you do something good for the planet and your wallet...
- Cut Down on Idle time: Equipment left on standby when it's not being used wastes energy and eats profit dollars. Every restaurant and commercial kitchen should have a start-up/shutdown plan so you are only running the equipment you need. By cutting an hour or two each day off the time each appliance is in operation can result in unbelievable savings over the course of the year.
- Regular Maintenance Pays Off: Create a regular maintenance plan to make sure that all your equipment is operating efficiently. Preventative Maintenance (PM) can help in two ways; the first being that a regular PM plan will help catch small problems before they turn into huge nightmares, the second being that leaky gaskets, clogged burners and loose fitting doors all add up to higher energy costs. A little PM goes a long way in terms of saving money, contact your local service company today to discuss a PM plan that is right for your operation.
- Buy Energy Efficient Equipment: When replacing equipment or adding a new piece to your line look for the ENERGY STAR certification. They cost less to operate and in most cases emit less heat, thus lowering your cooling costs and making your kitchen more comfortable. Match your equipment with your needs, purchasing a piece of equipment with more capacity than your operation needs is a great way to increase energy consumption thus negatively affecting your bottom line.
Well to me the bottom line is... You can't afford not to "Go Green"! Take a look around your restaurant and kitchen today and see what you can do to keep some extra green in your wallet. Manufacturers like Vulcan & True are making more products with the ENERGY STAR certification so before you purchase that next piece of restaurant equipment call J.E.S. and let us help you "Go Green".
