styles of compartment sinks

The compartment sink is one of the most crucial piece of equipment in a restaurant. In addition to food prep and hand washing many food and health safety standards require commercial foodservice establishments to have a compartment sink for manual warewashing. Because JES recognizes the importance of the compartment sink we've compiled a list of the different styles to help you figure out which one will best suit your needs.

  • The Compartment Sink: The original compartment sink makes a functional addition to any kitchen. They can be used for filling pots and pans or rinsing fresh produce for food prep, and even hand washing utensils when the commercial dishwasher gets backed up. These units also work great behind a bar, allowing your bartender to quickly clean glassware and utensils without having to leave their customers unattended. Many of these units come complete with one or two drainboards, providing an extra work area or drying rack for dishes.

  • The Corner Sink: The corner compartment sink is perfect for the restaurant that is tight on space. These small units' square shape is designed to fit perfectly and comfortable in corners or flush against tables and other pieces of equipment while still providing all the functionality of a full sized compartment sink. These sinks do not generally come complete with drain boards.

  • The Drop In Sink: The drop in sink is a cheaper alternative to a full sized compartment sink and is a great way to utilize an old counter or table. These units are generally small but very easy to install. The purchase of a sink frame is usually required to help prevent food and grim build up under the rim.
