With the current economic climate, many states have passed legislature allowing restaurants to add cocktails and other alcohol to their takeout and delivery menus. Being able to add to-go alcoholic drinks to their offerings has been a big help for restaurants struggling to maintains sales during a time when dining indoors has largely been restricted.

For restaurants in one of these 30+ states with a temporary cocktail to-go allowance (or in a state where this temporary order has now become permanent, like Ohio), this is a great opportunity to make sure you have what you need in order to be able to take advantage of this order and quickly fill those orders when they come in.

Mason jars, growlers, to-go cups and lids, and beverage holders are important to have in bulk stock as consumers need a way to carry their drinks home. Secure labels to ensure that lids not only stay on but that also prevent any tampering are also a good idea. Some restaurants are even getting creative and using vacuum sealed plastic bags and a vacuum pack machine in order to be able to offer customers to-go alcoholic options.

Shot glasses in a few sizes, precision pourers, rotary or wall mounted liquor dispensers, speed rails, and cocktail shakers are also all important pieces of bar equipment to have in order to fulfill drink orders. The liquor dispensers can not only make quickly filling drinks easier but can also save a little more space as they are suspended and thus off the bar top surface. Speed rails can help keep different bottles of alcohol organized and improve efficiency. If frozen or blended alcoholic beverages are on the menu, such as margaritas or alcoholic slushies, a bar blender or frozen beverage machine is imperative.

Whatever drinks your restaurant's normal menu offers that can be easily adapted for carryout orders, add it to the carryout menu so customers know that ordering their favorite drink is an option. Now is the time to experiment with alternative approaches to dining out and offering alcoholic beverages to-go is one way to do this.
