For those of you that love coffee but are use to getting your daily dose from an automatic coffee maker, I highly recommend you start using a french press. Many people who have not been introduced to quality coffee, may be surprised at the difference.

French Presses , in most coffee fans opinions, are the best methods for making coffee. The press pot dates back to the early 1900s, when it started to overtake the vac pots and balance brewers that came before it.

So why does it taste better? The benefits of the press over modern automatic coffee makers are largely due to the filter. Coffee filters used in automatic brewing will block the essential oils of the beans. So using the filterless French Press keeps these oils in and creates a fuller and more complex flavor in your cup. In addition to the taste, not using filters is a great way to conserve paper and be environmentally friendly.

Plus it’s easy to use. The method requires only the press itself, boiling water and coarse ground coffee. Simply add the coffee grounds at about 8.5 grams per 4 oz of water, slowly pour in the per-boiled water, give the coffee grounds and water a quick stir, add the filter assembly and steep for two or three minutes, firmly grip and plunge the filter in an even and controlled manner, and you are ready to pour your fresh made coffee.

The bottom line is, French Presses will make a better cup of coffee, are travel sized, good for the environment, and can be used to make loose leaf tea when you are ready for a little change in your beverage.
