meatballs with toothpicks on wooden board

The Super Bowl is upon us once again. Regardless of whether you watch for the game itself or solely for the commercials and half-time show, it's a popular event for appetizers and finger foods. These classic meatballs made with grape jelly are a Southern staple and perfect for a party of two or a party of twenty.

Ingredients:
  • 2lbs frozen meatballs
  • 18oz grape jelly
  • 18oz chili sauce or BBQ sauce

Directions:
  1. In a crockpot, mix together the grape jelly and chili sauce or BBQ sauce.
  2. Add the frozen meatballs and stir so the meatballs get coated with sauce.
  3. Cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  4. Enjoy!

NOTES

If you want to keep the meatballs warm after they have finished cooking, leave them in the crockpot and turn the heat down to the warm setting or lowest setting.

If you don't have a crockpot, this recipe can also be made on the stove by adding everything to a pot or pan and let simmer for 10-20 minutes over medium heat. Be sure to stir occasionally so that the meatballs cook evenly and the sauce doesn't burn.
