If you have been to the grocery store at any point in the last few months, you must likely have noticed that certain items have become increasingly hard to come by. Nowadays, it isn't uncommon to see the paper products aisle completely empty or for the cleaning products to be heavily raided. The empty shelves at the store, however, doesn't mean that your shelves at home aren't also emptying. If you are running low on disinfectant wipes but have a roll or two of paper towels to spare, you can DIY your own wipes. It's easy to do and will mean you won't need to scour the grocery shelves in search of wipes for a little longer.
Items needed:
- Container with lid at last 6" tall and 6" wide
- Serrated knife
- 1 roll of paper towels
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup Isopropyl alcohol
- 1 teaspoon dish soap
Directions:
- Cut a roll of paper towels in half using a large, serrated knife.
- Take one half of the freshly cut roll and place it standing upright in a sealable container.
- Mix the water, alcohol, and dish soap together in a measuring cup and pour over the paper towels in the container.
- Give the mixture a few minutes to soak into the paper towels before removing the cardboard roll of the center of the paper towels. Doing so will also bring the first few paper towels in the center of the roll upwards, giving you a start on the roll.
- If the paper towels are a bit tall for your container, press them down and seal with the container's lid until ready to use. Label one side of the container of necessary.
