Does anyone else like the fried apples that only seem to be at Cracker Barrel? Or just sometimes find yourself with apples starting to go bad before you can eat them? This easy recipe for fried apples can take care of both issues. It's a great way to use up any excess apples beginning to go soft while also giving you a delicious dessert (or side dish).

Ingredients:
  • 6-8 apples, roughly chopped (peeled if desired)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • juice of one lemon
  • pinch of salt
Directions:
  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add in the apples.
  2. Pour the lemon juice over the apples and then add the sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Stir to evenly coat the apple pieces and saute for about 10 minutes or until apples can be easily pierced with a fork.
  4. Serve by themselves over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
