Summertime calls to mind images of the beach, pool parties, chasing lightning bugs, and more. Colorful drinks are also a staple of summer--from pink lemonade to a range of Kool-aid colors to the slushies you can get at the convenience store. Here are a few easy to make summer drinks that the whole family will enjoy.

Homemade Lemonade

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cups lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 5 cups cold water
  • Ice
  • 2 lemons for garnish
Directions:
  1. Combine the lemon juice, water, and sugar in a large pitcher and stir until all the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add the lemon slices and ice. Serve.
Optional Tip: You can make a simple syrup first by mixing the sugar with one cup of the water before mixing that in with the lemon juice and remaining water. This will ensure that you don't have any sugary grit in your lemonade.

Directions:
  1. Pour the pink lemonade concentrate and Sprite into a pitcher.
  2. Add the water and lime juice.
  3. Stir the mixture until the lemonade concentrate has dissolved.
  4. Add in the ice and garnish with lemon slices and raspberries. Serve.
