Halloween Swirl Brownies

Posted by Rachel Schwartz on 10/15/2019

Make these scarily good brownies and be the hit of your home or Halloween party.

Brownie Layer
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup Hershey's special dark cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Cream Cheese Layer
  • 8oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray. Set aside.
  2. For the brownie layer, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a medium-sized bowl.
  3. In another bowl, combine the eggs, vegetable pol, and vanilla extract until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients into one bowl, mixing until all ingredients are just combined.
  5. Save 1/4 cup of the brownie batter and set it aside before pouring the rest into the baking pan.
  6. For the cream cheese layer, combine the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl.
  7. Add the orange food coloring and stir to combine.
  8. Gently spread the mixture on top of the batter in the baking pan.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the saved batter on top of the cream cheese layer and gently swirl using a knife or toothpick.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until set. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
