If you are wanting to buy a juicer, you may think that the process of going out and purchasing one would be very simple; however, there are several types of juicers on the market that you may not be aware existed. The type of juicer all depends on the type of products you plan on juicing and more importantly the thickness of the juice you plan on making.
Masticating juicers are a slower speed juicer. They produce a higher juice quality with less oxidation. These juicers breaks up the fibers and the cells of vegetables and fruits. Juicers tend to give you more fiber, enzymes, vitamins, and trace minerals.
Centrifugal juicers, like the Sunkist SUNJ-2 oscillating juicer work on a very high rotation per minute speed. This type of machine first grinds the fruit and vegetables by spinning at a high speed. This method creates a greater volume of juice, however, it also reduces the nutrients level over time and has a higher amount of oxidation.
Triturating juicers are a twin gear machine that turns at a much slower rpm rate and follows a two-step process. The first step crushes the fruit and vegetables and the second step presses the juice out. This type is similar to the masticating juicer in that it gives you more fiber, enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals. They also have a type of bio-ceramic technology that slows down the oxidation process. This is ideal if you are wanting to make and store your juice. These juicers work with leafy greens, wheatgrass, sprouts, root vegetables like carrots and water dense fruits.
There are also two sub-categories you can put juicers into: pulp-ejection and non-pulp ejection. Pulp-ejection machines, like the Dynamic International Santos Professional model, eject pulp into a separate container allowing for continuous juicing. They are better used when using larger quantities of juice.
Non-pulp ejection machines the Waring JE2000 collect inside a basket and the operator must stop and clean it after juicing at least one quart of juice.
