As we enter in to the 2nd week of National Grilled Cheese month I offer up the old Clark household recipe. It should be noted that these recipes all start with the standard grilled cheese sandwich ingredients using your preferences on type of bread and cheese.

Mom's version of the "kicked up" grilled cheese was to assemble the sandwich in the normal manner but then she would dip it into a bowl of egg-nog and proceed in the manner of making french toast.  Once it was all "golden and gooey" she would put it on the plate with a good size dollop of raspberry jam and dust with powdered sugar. It was especially good around the holidays when the local dairies offered up their fresh egg-nogs.

If you can't find egg-nog "out of season" feel free to use your favorite french toast batter recipe, but there is a canned egg-nog that is available year around and is acceptable for this application.

Try this and I hope you enjoy it as much as I always did.
