In the early hours of Monday morning, the A/C died. There was tossing, turning and cussing. I’m not repeating what my darling wife said, but there was very little sleep that night. OK, we ain’t quitters, so let’s get up. Starbucks again, yeah!
Walking to Jackson Square, we decide to take a buggy ride to get the low down on NOLA. (Reminder to self…Don’t take a mule-pulled buggy ride! You’re on the south end of a north-bound mule!! No explanation needed I hope.) Otherwise, the ride was good. We stopped off at a cemetery, had a walking tour, and learned a lot about the culture of NOLA. When the ride was over, we walked to Le Bayou Restaurant and Oyster Bar, where we had adult beverages. Things were getting better. Also had an order of Gator, Boudin Balls, and a Fish Po Boy. The gator was great, the fish was good, and the Boudin balls were OK. They’re not like the Boudin sausage made down here. They were fried, breaded balls, but the inside was pretty good. Bought two drinks to go, and we’re headed down Bourbon St. on our way home. (Don’t tell Mama I’m on Bourbon St.)

Back at the room, it’s hot! Called the front desk, they said engineering was on the way. Bernard said, “A/C’s broken, time to change rooms.” What about my view???? We’re just moving down one floor, so we’ll have the same view. OK. Well, to make a long story short, after the second non-working, not very clean room, it’s time to complain. We handle customer problems, and that tends to make us more sympathetic than the average person, but when it’s time to complain, it’s time to complain. Customer service is something that’s mostly missing in the internet world, but we at JES will always answer the phone and do our very best to help our customers if given the opportunity.
The folks at the Marriott have come through with flying colors so far. (I’ll see if they’ve got their stuff together at check out.) They finally put us in the Mayor’s Suite. What a view! After all of this, the day was pretty much shot, so it was room service and bed time. I will say the room service was good.
