Now Ya Cookin'
It seems odd but when
you work at an asphalt plant some things just can't be avoided. Natasha
(one of the girls here in the office) sent me this last week and I thought what
a novel idea to share with all the foodies. Her boyfriend, Houston, works
for an asphalt plant and explains the process bellow...
- Step one... do what we do best... make asphalt.
To get the proper cooking temperature we consult the plant operator
to run the asphalt at 15° F above the desired cooking temperature we
want. For this instance, we ran this batch of asphalt at 375°F
to give us a cooking temperature of around 360°-365°F.
- Next we take our 4-lb roast, baby carrots, potatoes,
and onions and place them in some aluminum foil and season to our
liking. We use several layers of foil then place it in a canvas bag.
- At this point we dump 2 tons of asphalt on the ground,
place wrapped roast in the center and cover with the remaining
asphalt. after about an hour and a half our meal was ready to be
served.
