Quick and easy pork on a skewer, no need for a long wait to marinate.

QUICKIE PORK KABOBS

Serves: 6 Difficulty Level: 1 (of 5) Prep Time: 5 Minutes Ready In: Less than an Hour

INGREDIENTS:

•5 cups sliced pork butt meat (1 1/2" x 1" ) for kabob
•1/2 cup soy sauce
•1/4 cup lemon juice
•2 cups sprite or seven-up
•1 1/2 cup brown sugar
•1 cup tomato ketchup
•1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
•salt to taste
•2 pcs. clove
•1 pc. bay leaf
•2 tbsp. vegetable oil
•Metal skewers **

** If using wooden (bamboo) skewers soak them in water for 30 minutes and put meat close together to prevent the skewer from burning

PROCEDURE:

•Place sliced pork in a bowl add soy sauce and mix (to add nice color to the meat)
•Add the rest of the ingredients (except the oil) mix until well blended.
•Place marinated meat in the skewer (about 5 pcs. )
•Save marinade and add the oil ( will be used for basting the bbq)
•Place meat on a hot grill. (can also be done on an indoor grill)
•Cook until golden brown.

Make sure to brush meat every time you turn it (this is the secret of making the bbq tasty even if it hasn't been marinated for a period of time).

Enjoy,
Chef Phil

Serve this over your favorite rice recipe for a total meal.  I have also served it wrapped in a warm tortilla with some refried beans
and rice for the Southwestern flair.

Purchase wooden and stainless steel skewers at JES Restaurant Equipment to make you kabobs the highlight of the evening!
