Today is World Nutella Day and although we never need a reason to indulge in Nutella goodness, this seemed as good an occasion to do so as any. And with Valentine's Day around the corner, why not take this opportunity to try out a chocolatey treat to share with your significant other on February 14th? This heart-shaped dessert is easy, quick, and full of chocolatey Nutella goodness.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/3 cup raspberry jam
  • 1 egg
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry
  • Powdered sugar
Directions:
  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets until they are soft enough to roll out but are still cold (approximately 45 minutes).
  2. Cut a heart-shaped template from a sheet of paper that is 11-12 inches wide.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  4. Unfold one sheet of puff pastry and roll it out until it is slightly bigger than the heart template. Using a pizza cutter, cut out the heart and repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  5. Place one heart on a cookie sheet and cover it with the Nutella, spreading it out evenly. Top with the other heart.
  6. Using a pizza cutter or scissors, make cuts from the edge of the hearts to almost the middle. Cuts should be about an inch apart and go all the way around the heart, leaving the pieces attached in the middle.
  7. Twist each cut piece a few times.
  8. Beat an egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash and brush this over the top of the heart.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  10. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the heart and drizzle the raspberry jam over it. Serve warm or at room temperature.
