Every year in the month of June residents of Greenwood and other surrounding counties gather to celebrate the beginning of Summer. With over 35 events, including cultural, horticultural and sporting events, the Festival of Flowers has been named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society for the 5th year in a row.
The festival kicks off every year with the topiary Safari displays in uptown Greenwood, based on Walt Disney’s very own “Festival of Flowers” showcased at Epcot. Events throughout the month include the Juried Art Show and Photography Exhibit at the Federal Building, an outdoor Bluegrass Concert and a Garden Party Concert at Lander University Amphitheater and the ever so popular Farm to Fork Dinner.. The festival hosts activities for families, kids and adults like luncheons for the ladies, the Kidfest, Golf and a Bass fishing tournament on Lake Greenwood. Other sporting events include the Olympic distance triathlon, 5K fun run, swim meet and a bike tour. The festival also brings several guest speakers and talented individuals to enlighten the community and provide a fun learning experience.
The most popular event of the Greenwood Festival of Flowers is Park Seed’s Trial Garden’s tour, also known as “flower day,” the tour is fun and exciting for all ages, featuring over 1000 varieties of annuals, perennials and vegetables all open to the public.
