Hello my name is Phil, and I am a gadgetolic....

I've been obsessed with gadgets for years but when the gadget has to do with the kitchen or cooking it's double trouble when the "gotta have" gene kicks in.  And when the realization of what an amazing find I have come across sets in I feel compelled to spread the world so here i am....spreading the word!

My latest find in the world of kitchen products are those being manufactured out of food grade silicone.  A few years ago they introduced the oven mitt, my first thought was "there is no way that this is going to stop me from getting burned".  Well i was wrong in my assumption.  Some silicone mitts will even allow you to dip your hand in scalding liquid to retrieve a spoon, ladle, or canning jar lid without getting burned, and because they are relatively thin you still have pretty good dexterity.  That was only a few years back & now kitchenware and bake-ware products made from silicone are found on the shelves of stores everywhere.  The silicone products are oven, freezer, and microwave safe so manufacturers are making everything from this stuff, from basting and pastry brushes to cake pans. I have one of the Norpro Basting brushes and i love it. It's perfect for grillin', & you don't have to worry about finding a bristle in your food.  The silicone products are available in an assortment of colors for that color coordinated kitchen (mine is going red) & it can be folded, twisted, and is almost bullet proof.  Silicone provides an even distribution of heat, so your goodies will cook evenly and the non stick surface releases easily without the use of expensive and messy no stick sprays (except for the initial use).  Since silicone is dishwasher safe, clean-up is a breeze... no scrubbing to get the baked on batter off.

"Can it take the heat"? you ask... Silicone is able to withstand a very wide temperature range, from sub zero temperatures (some as low as -76°F) to a blistering 500°+ F.  Muffin panscake pansloaf pans all allow you to make your favorite baked goods in the way that old family tradition calls for with the convenience of clean up in the modern day world.  Also for your consideration is the bounty of silicone utensils such as spatulasbrushes, funnels, pan liners, and many others.  Now that I have told you about this world of silicone kitchenware my job is done.  Any of the items I've mentioned can be purchase rather inexpensively from my good friends at JES Restaurant Equipment & Kitchen Emporium (1-866-200-6056), they have a huge selection of kitchen gadgets so of course its one of my favorite stores.
