Every fruit, vegetable, and herb have a natural season. While we can find almost any type of produce in the grocery store year-round, buying produce while it's in season is often cheaper. Local farmer will also thank you for supporting your local farmer's market and the local agricultural business. Even if you don't have a farmer's market nearby, grocery store prices for in season fruits and vegetables is often cheaper than they are otherwise.
The following list of produce is what is in season during the summer months of June, July, and August. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list and that due to varied growing conditions, all produce may not be considered in season in your area.
- Passion fruit
- Honeydew melons
- Other berries (Loganberry, Gooseberry, Boysenberry, Elderberry, Marionberry, Mulberry, etc.)
- Green beans
- Lima beans
- Summer squash
