piece of cooked salmon on white plate next to sprig of rosemary

Salmon is hailed as a great tasting, light, easy meal to make any night of the week. It's typically seen baked, topped with a dill sauce, or grilled with fresh lemon slices on the side. This salmon recipe takes salmon to a whole new level. For anyone who loves hot sauce and spicy things, this recipe is a must try.

Ingredients:
  • 4 salmon fillets, skin off
  • 1/4 cup chives, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce, buffalo sauce, or hot sauce of choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • Dash of crushed red chili flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, chili sauce, sriracha, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and crushed red chili flakes to create a marinade.
  2. Season the salmon fillets with the salt, pepper, and paprika. Add the salmon to the marinade, making sure to turn each fillet so that they are evenly coated.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least two hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 370°F. While the oven is preheating, heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat with a small amount of olive oil.
  5. Sear the salmon on both sides for a few minutes each to create a crust. Depending on the size of the fillets, this may need to be done in batches.
  6. Once seared, put all fillets in the skillet or, if the fillets are too large for all to fit, transfer them to a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 7-10 minutes or until the fillets are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped chives on top and serve while still warm.
